The apprenticeship - An exciting career start in the hospitality industry! Our unique School-hotels are vocational schools recognized by the Swiss Confederation, offering courses in a blocks’ model format. This allows talented young people to focus on their theoretical and practical learning in block courses lasting several weeks, and to develop their social skills in a supportive school environment. And all this during the off-season or when hotel or restaurant operations are reduced.
This format has been specially designed by HotellerieSuisse at the request of hoteliers: rather than having their apprentices attend the cantonal school every week, which complicates staff planning, the School-hotel format offers block courses twice a year, during periods when occupancy rates are generally low or hotels are closed. This format is therefore optimal for both companies and apprentices!
You have the choice between 2 paths.
The two-year training course leads to a Federal Certificate of Vocational Education and Training (EBA). This recognized qualification is an excellent starting point for a career in the hotel and catering industry.
With an EBA, you can go straight on to the second year of training, leading to the Federal Certificate of Competence (EFZ).
Are you looking to combine theory and practice? In this three-year training program, you'll learn your profession from the inside out. Following your EFZ, you can apply to the Swiss Professional degree.
As a Hotel Employee EBA, it's your job to ensure that guests feel comfortable wherever they are in the hotel.
Our block-courses take place at our School-hotels in Interlaken (in German) and in Martigny (in French).
As a Restaurant Employee EBA, you'll look after and advise guests in the restaurant.

Hotel-school courses are free of charge for apprentices. Depending on the provisions of the apprenticeship contract, the company may cover the cost of school materials and teaching aids. The latter, as well as the training contribution, are detailed in the Terms and Conditions for Apprentices, which form an integral part of the apprenticeship contract.
Training companies may deduct the cost of accommodation and meals at the hotel-school from the gross salary. The rates to be applied are set out in the Convention for Apprentices in the Swiss Hotel and Restaurant Industry. Please refer to the calculation models for the monthly lump-sum deduction
